Field Day

We sure had a great day outside 

sharpening our athletic and teamwork skills.  

Just check out all the fun!

Station 1:  Who can aim their A-zooka at the wiffle ball 

and make it move down the string??  

Station 2:  Give me your best Ninja Warrior expression 

before you conquer the obstacle course.

Station 3:  Oscar"s Trash Can - friends toss balls in, 

"Oscars" toss them back out.

Station 4:  Toe Croquet - kick the soccer ball with a partner 

through the hoop course.

Station 5:  9 Square in the Air - work as a team to keep the large beach ball 

from touching the ground.  We REALLY did a great job with this game.  

We were able to count up to 28 hits before the ball dropped.

Station 6:  The River Run - dodge the rolling balls 

as you travel down the imaginary river path.

Station 7:  Stretch and Strengthen - Mrs. McClain led us in exercises 

that helped us focus on our muscles.

Station 8:  Have fun on the play structure.  

Their expressions tell it all - what a wonderful day together!

Critter Barn Fun!

What a beautiful day to visit the Critter Barn.  

Take a peek at all the learning that went on today.

Lesson 1, don't get too close to the goats - they'll eat your name tag.😄

Lesson 2, milking a goat is harder than it looks.  

We all had a turn to squirt the milk into a metal bucket 

and listen for that special sound.

Lesson 3, Banty Hens have beautiful colored feathers 

and are very docile

Lesson 4,  when baby goats are hungry, 

you better be ready with the bottles!

Ginny Lou, the Potbelly pig did lots of tricks for us!

This Donkey is the oldest animal on the farm.  

He was very patient as we felt his soft fur.

Lesson 5, the cattle are fed grain from a silo.  

By knocking on the silo walls, we could determine the level of the grain.  

These cattle were very gentle and kind to our outstretched hands. 

 We hopped over to the bunny house to snuggle them all

These little black lambs were only three days old.  

 We went into a pen with older sheep to greet them good day.

Lesson 6, while sack swings may look different, the thrill is the same!

Happy Hatching Day!!!

Today the children were treated to an egg-tra special event.  

After 21 days of researching the life cycle and development 

 of a chicken, we welcomed our first baby chicks today!  

Rosie, an Isa Brown, was the first to greet the children 

with her peeps and cheeps. 

 Chickadee, a Brown Leghorn, 

was next to say good morning.

Soon after, we welcomed Autumn, Chick Chick, Otis 

and Sunny to the group.

At dismissal, we invited our parents to come and see the new baby chicks.

It Was An Egg-cellent Day!

Our chicken eggs arrived today from 

Townline Hatchery in Zeeland.

With great anticipation and excitement, 

we greeted our new little eggs with 

a warm welcome - 99.5 degrees to be exact 😊

We received a text at lunchtime that the eggs had arrived!

They were packed in their box very carefully.

We examined the eggs - noticing that they were different sizes and colors.

The packaging kept the eggs safe 

all the way from Zeeland to East Grand Rapids.

We carefully placed the eggs in the center of our classroom incubator.

All tucked in and ready to begin developing!
