Spirit Week

This week was Spirit Week at Wealthy School.
Each day of the week highlighted a different theme.
On Friday, we were to dress as a character from literature.
The kindergarten team dressed as Pete the Cat.

Take a peek at some of the literary characters the children chose.

Everyone had a great time sharing
why they chose their character.
Time to get to the library to check out some new titles!

February Fun!

Creating the perfect Valentine mailbox can be a work of art!

We used stickers, jewels

and lots of glitter glue to make it special.

However, opening our mailboxes....

and discovering treats was lots of fun too!

Celebrating 100 days of school and displaying our 100 item collections

Whew!  That was a lot of counting for one day :)

Pirate for a Day!

Argh!  Damien's dad Jake,, treated us
to an afternoon of pirate treasure and tales.
We made our own pirate hats, adorned an eye patch
and listened to the story of Skull Island.

Show us your best pirate face or you shall walk the plank!
Thanks to Jake and Sara Hooks for a special afternoon!

The Perfect Day!

On Thursday, our whole kindergarten grade level
 went outside to sled together.
We went over some of the school safety rules at
Wealthy and then practiced, and practiced and practiced - what fun!
Just look at all our happy faces below :)

                                         We concluded the event with
                                              steaming, hot chocolate
                                          topped with marshmallows and
                                               whipped cream - yum!!

Making Bold Choices

All week we have been reading and discussing the world changing, bold choices that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. made in his lifetime.  I came upon a poem that is entitled With My Own Two Hands that talks about how we too can make positive changes in our world by using our hands.
At the art center, pairs of children made a bold choice in allowing a friend to paint their hand and print it on their poem.  The experience was so heart warming to witness.  Each friend was very careful to take their time and do their best design.  I'm so proud of the beautiful, bold choices they created together!!

Gingerbread Buddy Day

Our Gingerbread Buddy Day was a wonderful event!
Builders of all ages created beautiful houses
using a variety of shapes and colors of
candy, candy and more candy.
Here is a quick peek at some of the
busy builders and their creations.

The candy buffet was a magical place to meet - oh, the possibilities!

Adding some finishing touches

Now how am I suppose to get this home????

Was it Grandpa Swift or could it be...

We were all treated to a wonderful drawing session
from Grandpa Swift this morning.  He came as Fisher's V.I.P.
guest and was gracious enough to stay and
share his talents at our art center.
View the sketches below and ask yourself,
could Grandpa Swift be from the North Pole???

A happy frog...

and a sweet bulldog.

Butterflies that soar and a lion that roars.

Ho!  Ho!  Ho!
Did we ever have fun.
Thanks Grandpa Swift!!
